Documenting our Heritage
The Good Shepherd Magdalen Convent
Sundays Well, Cork.
CONVENT MAIN HALL
Fallen
The central hall area of the convent was gutted by fire in 2003. The twisted and buckled copper pipes are the remains of the heating system, the radiators still clinging to the walls. All floors have collapsed to ground level.
The Curious Columns
Curiously the design of the decoration on the arch columns is different.
In Ruins
The boarded door to the right appears to have lead to a further grand hall or church to the rear of the convent - this has been bulldozed along with the laundry buildings.
