Documenting our Heritage
The Good Shepherd Magdalen Convent
Sundays Well, Cork.
CONVENT EAST WING
Red, White and Blue.
Now in the East wing of the convent we find an amazingly colourful floor.
Grand Staircase
The central staircase shows peeling layers of poppy design wallpaper.
Wash Room
The floor is covered with broken glass and debris. Some unrecognisable machine lies abandoned to the right of the photograph.
The S Corridor
The East wing is connected to the central hall by an S shaped corridor.
Crushing Darkness
Art Remains
Forgotten Shadows
Now moving up to the second floor of the East wing. The floor is littered with debris. Layers of wallpaper reveal the Sisters colourful taste. A dumb waiter lies broken - it used to connect to the kitchen room below.
Let the light in
Bath Tubs
Pigeon Roost
Top floor of the East wing, the floor is totally covered with pigeon litter, the floor boards rotten through in many areas.
