Documenting our Heritage
The Hell-Fire Club
Originally built in 1725, the structure still stands in good condition.
Hell-Fire
The building stands in the same location as a Neolithic cairn, the story goes that the original
slate roof was destroyed by the devil in recompense for the destruction of the original cairn.
Watching over Dublin
The Hell-Fire club stands strong. Each window looks out across Dublin city.
(we walk around the structure anti-clockwise)
Devils Lodge
Some people tell us this structure is a hunting lodge. However this was the site of outrageous depravity - home of the Hell-Fire club.
Over Dublin
Parsons Grand Lodge
Richard Parsons, the first Earl of Rosse who established the Hell-Fire Club in Dublin, was also the twice the Grand Master Mason of Ireland, in 1725 and 1730.
