Ballymcgrath Tower

We enter the amazing original tower house - this part of the castle dates from the 16th century.

The windows were added by the Taylors - they are said to have come from the churches at Kilmacduagh!

Spiral Stairs

The ancient stairway runs to the top of the tower

The Central Chamber

This is the central part of the tower house - dating from the 1500s

We proceed up to the top of the tower house.

We find this tree branch in one of the side chambers

At some stage a roof covered this area but this has now collapsed

Vines and Ivy are pushing into all corners

We pack up our cameras and leave the way we came..

leaving no trace of us ever being inside this really amazing structure.
