Coppinger's Court

West Cork

Documenting our Heritage

Coppinger's Court

Coppinger's Court was ransacked and partially burnt down in the 1641 Rebellion.

Looking Forward

We access the building and make some 360' captures.

When time allows we will add virtual reality viewing to these panoramic images (this might be a winter time project)

Looking Back

There are many visual clues left as to how the house might have appeared in the 1600s - we can distinguish where the floors were located. Fire places, chimney routes are all quite obvious.

Derelict Beauty

It’s a very dull overcast day. We switch cameras and capture some InfraRed images.

Ivy and other undergrowth encroaches on the structure.

A window for every day.

So impressive was this house that it was said to have had a window for every day of the year, a chimney for every week and a door for every month.

(A strategically placed gate is keeping out the cows)

Growing Walls

Ivy, grasses and weeds are covering the structure.

Coppinger’s Court has already been standing derelict for nearly 400 years.

Long Abandoned.

The structure consists of two fortified towers (one of them the left part of the structure) a central block, and a kitchen extension (the part of the structure to the right).
