Raheens House,

I trek over some fields.. eventually coming to Raheens House
Raheens house is being restored!
(I am overjoyed! this is the first of the ‘big‘ houses I’ve visited that hasn’t been left to rot)
All the floors are missing - I’m looking here down from the front door.
The ground floor level would of been at the height of the wall in the middle of the picture, everything below is the basement. All the debris from the collapsed floors and roof etc has been removed from the structure. You can clearly see the height to which the rubble has been cleared - see where the green/grey area of the wall changes to clean red-ish - debris filled the house up to this level (1 metre and more in some places) The amount of waste material removed must of been vast.
Down now in the basement - I look up to the front door opening.
This restoration is going to be a huge job but no doubt the results will be stunning.
The remains of the cellar - a metal gate on the doorway here probably kept out the servants from the food and wine stored within.
I’m looking here at the roof beams still protruding from the wall - all neatly sawn.
All the timber in the house has been cut out and removed for it’s value - there’s no evidence of fire.
