Tradition tell us this is where the Countess of Desmond was buried alive by her husband when he thought she had been fatally wounded by an arrow. She awoke some time later to find herself trapped under the earth. It is said her screams till echo through the ruin to this day.
I pack up my gear and head of back across the fields
- leaving ‘Mainistir na Cailleach Duff’ just as I found it.
