Lough Cutra Castle,
Co. Galway
Page 1
I’m a bit of a fan of neo-gothic castles and John Nash has to be the master architect of this style of country house. It’s a shame that many of John Nash’s creations are no longer standing. I’m here at Lough Cutra Castle at the invitation of Edward Somerville the estate manager, who is going to show me around the castle. I approach the castle through the original huge demesne and catch a glimpse of the castle in the background. Can’t wait to see this place up close!
I meet Edward at the castle entrance and he sets me off to have a look around the castle grounds.
It’s a dreadfully dull day, I have to seek shelter every time the rain starts.
