Built in 1820, Knockranny house is a four bay, two storey house with bow ended western gable.


At the time of the Griffith's Valuation the house was leased by Joseph Bennett Little from the Tenison estate and was valued at £25. The Tenison family held extensive estates in County Roscommon with Edward King Tenison being one of the main lessors of property in the area.


In 1876 the family held 17,000 acres in County Roscommon, 1600 acres in County Sligo and 1500 acres in County Leitrim.
