At first appearance little remains of the house structure.
Window and door frames are held in place by wooden supports erected by the OPW.
From the road side it looks like there’s really very little to see here.
However Ger knows there’s something quite remarkable lurking down below!
We’re here to see the basement!
The steps lead down into darkness, we walk along a pitch black corridor to emerge...
The graffiti dates back to the 1940s and beyond
The basement is extraordinary!
It’s vaulted with very fine brickwork with panelled and moulded brick columns.
There’s a curious round hole in the back wall here ?
