It’s cold and raining outside.
The interior of the castle is surprisingly warm and dry.
Documenting our Heritage
Cratloemoyle Castle,
Clare.
The remains of centuries of birds nests appear at the base of the chimney.
The fireplace is vast and ornate.
The explorers climb to the second level
The roof has totally collapsed in one section.
Unfortunately we find it impossible to climb higher.
We are still surprised at the relatively good condition of the castle interior.
Cratloemoyle has been unoccupied since 1780.
Happy that we’ve documented the castle, we pack up and leave Cratloemoyle exactly as we found it.
