Castle Otway,
Tipperary
Page 1
The house at the front was constructed first in the mid 1700s
The huge tower house at the rear came later - this was constructed over the original Cloghane castle which was later renamed Castle Otway.
This arched doorway leads through to the tower house at the rear of the structure.
We start our exploration in the house at the front of the structure.
We’re standing in the basement here - all the floors have gone, Castle Otway was burnt out by the old IRA in 1922.
This room appears to be the kitchen.
We look up to the original front door to the house where a metal gate now bars the entrance.
