Ballintubber Castle,
Roscommon.
Page 1
I’m standing in the centre of the bawn here - click on the VR button to really get a sense of the scale of this place.
A loop, from where the O’Conors would of fired arrows onto any invaders.
The castle is very ruined but there’s still some nice features like this one.
Most of the structure here dates back to the 1300s
It’s my third day exploring Roscommon and this is the first sign of sunshine!
Ballintubber Castle appears to be on private land, there’s nobody around so I hop the gate to take a peek. The archaeologists could be moving in here any day to dig up the bawn so I want to make my photographs with the place in it’s natural state.
