The main gate is locked and closed up. Besides the odd tractor using this gate to access the farm land beyond, this entrance hasn’t been used for decades.
The structure of the house doesn’t look too far gone from the exterior.
Many of the windows still contain glass even though some hang precariously from the window frames.
The plaster peels away from the stone walls. The plaster was decorated to originally look like cut stone. You see houses like this purposefully stripped off there plaster covering all across Ireland - strange how now the rough stone underneath is now the more fashionable appearance.
So I’ve been told, to remove the plaster is just ‘wrong’ !!
The front door remains locked and bared.
The interior in the main hall has collapsed from the ceiling down to ground floor and further holes appear down to the basement in some areas.
It’s all a bit of a death trap so I’m going extremely carefully in here!
The remains of one of the bell pull mechanisms - wires stretched from the rooms down to the basement, so the servants could be summoned when needed.
